Indian devs in 2026, the LLM landscape just got real

Indian devs in 2026, the LLM landscape just got real.

I went through a fresh side-by-side of Claude, GPT-4o, and Gemini 2.5 focused on what actually matters to us here — token pricing in INR, latency from Indian regions, Indic language handling, and day-to-day coding/devops flow.

Claude is still the king of careful, high-stakes reasoning. If you're writing infrastructure code, complex algorithms, or anything where one wrong assumption can cost you hours, it simply makes fewer dumb mistakes. The thinking is deeper.

GPT-4o remains the fastest for rapid prototyping and feels the most "alive." Multimodal is seamless, and the UX is addictive. Great when you're building frontends, quick demos, or juggling multiple tools in one session.

Gemini 2.5 is the dark horse this year. Insanely cheap at scale, excellent Google Cloud integration (which most Indian startups already run on), and noticeably lower latency when you're hitting it from Bangalore or Hyderabad. The search-grounded answers are also sharper now.

My real takeaway

My real takeaway: unless you specifically need Claude’s precision or GPT’s creative spark, Gemini 2.5 is winning on pure economics and practicality for most Indian teams right now. Budgets are tight, and the difference in monthly spend can be massive.

The gap has narrowed a lot, but the winner really depends on your stack and risk tolerance.

What’s your daily driver in 2026 — Claude, GPT-4o, or Gemini? Curious where most of you have landed.
